Correspondence is the project's mailbox: the formal letters, notices and instructions that need to be findable years later.

Threads
A thread has a reference — C-001, C-002 — a subject, a type, a status
and a priority, and holds the messages exchanged under it.
Threads, with their reference, status and priority.
Closing a thread records when it was closed. Replying to a closed thread reopens it, because a reply means it was not finished.
Internal and external participants
- Participants are project members.
- External participants are plain email addresses — the client, a consultant, a statutory body — recorded so the record is legible later without needing those people to have accounts.
Filing an email that arrived elsewhere
A letter that came by email can be filed into a thread while keeping its own sender and its own date, rather than being recorded as though you wrote it today. That is what makes the thread admissible as a record of what was sent and when.
